The Atlanta Falcons participated in a scrimmage Friday night, which was held at a local high school, in which wide receiver Michael Jenkins sustained an injury to his right shoulder. This injury will reportedly keep him off the field for about four to six weeks.

Jenkins says that his shoulder feels all right but he did not practice with the team on Saturday. Specific details of the injury have not been disclosed, such as whether Jenkins’ shoulder was dislocated or separated. Saturday, Alex Cora (pictured) was released by the New York Mets and the Mets also optioned outfielder Jesus Feliciano to AAA Buffalo. In his 62 games with New York, 34-year-old Cora was hitting an average of .207. Had he made it for 80 games total with the New York Mets, he would have had a contract worth $2 million for 2011.

As for Feliciano, he had a batting average of .292 with four doubles, a single triple and two runs batted in during his 27 appearances with the Mets. Known right now as the world’s number 3 ranked golfer, Lee Westwood has withdrawn from the Bridgestone Invitational, which is being held in Akron, Ohio, and will not attend and play in the PGA Championship next week. Westwood, from England, has suffered an injury to his right calf, which is affecting his ability to play in these two events.

During his playing time on Thursday, the England golfer was 1-over par and 6-over par on Friday. Earlier this year, Westwood was a runner-up at both the Masters and the Open. He first suffered an injury to his calf during the first week of July at the French Open. Isn’t it about time? After more than a week of attempting to pass the conditioning test for the Washington Redskins, Albert Haynesworth finally passes on Saturday. The defensive tackle was able to successfully complete two shuttle runs of 300 yards within the time period allotted for him by Coach Mike Shanahan. His first initial fail of the conditioning test was on the first day of the Washington Redskins training camp on July 29.

According to the Washington Post, Haynesworth showed up at training camp in order to prepare himself for today’s conditioning test. He passed the initial run right at 66 seconds with the second run at 70 seconds. The time limits for the two runs were 70 for the first run and 73 for the second run. Drafted as the number six overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft this year, Russell Okung has finally signed with the Seattle Seahawks ending a six-day holdout. Okung was the last rookie player from the draft’s first round that had yet to sign with a NFL team. The contract is said to be for six years and worth a prospective $58 million with about $29 million of that guaranteed.

Immediately after signing the six-year contract with the Seahawks, Okung joined Seattle for training camp on the field in full pads for his very first practice in the past seven months. He only missed the first 15 minutes of practice this afternoon. He may have been a holdout for nearly an entire week, he’s looking to make up that time he missed. Jose Guillen is being designated for assignment by the Kansas City Royals. Guillen was in his final year of his three-year contract of $36 million. When he signed with the Royals three years ago, the $36 million contract made the outfielder the highest paid player ever per year. By doing this, the Royals are saving about $4 million this season.

The Royals initially signed Guillen as a free agent after the 2007 season in hopes of strengthening their batting, which they were able to do successfully. Signing with the Royals made Kansas City his ninth Major League club that Guillen has played with. Guillen started his MLB career when he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1997.
