U.S. and England Preliminary Rosters for the World Cup

The deadline has approached where each of the 32 teams participating this year’s World Cup was required to provide a roster that consisted of 30 men. On June 1, another roster would be made, a final one, which consists of 23 of the 30 men that were listed on the preliminary rosters, which are listed below for the USA and England.

The USA opens in an opening game against England on June 12 with the final team rosters for the 2010 World Cup, which is being held in South Africa this year.

USA Preliminary Roster

Goalkeepers consist of Brad Guzen from Aston Villa, Marcus Hahneman from Wolverhampton, and Tim Howard from Everton.

Forwards consist of Robbie Findley from Real Salt Lake, Eddie Johnson from Aris Thessaloniki, Edson Buddle from LA Galaxy, Jozy Altidore from Villarreal/Hull City, Brian Ching from Houston Dynamo and Herculez Gomez from Puebla.

Defenders consist of Jonathan Spector from West Ham United, Oguchi Onyewu from LA Galaxy, Clarence Goodson from IK Start, Steve Cherundolo from Hannover 96, Carlos Bocanegra from Rennes, Heath Pearce from FC Dallas, Chad Marshall from Columbus Crew, Jay DeMerit from Watford, and Jonathan Bornstein from Chivas USA.

Midfielders consist of Jose Francisco Torres from Pachuca, Sacha Kljestan from Chivas USA, Benny Feilhaber from AGF, Landon Donovan from LA Galaxy, Ricardo Clark from Eintracht Frankfurt, Alejandro Bedoya from Orebro SK, DeMarcus Beasley from Rangers FC, Robbie Rogers from Columbus Crew, Stuart Holden from Bolton, Maurice Edu from Rangers FC, Clint Dempsey from Fulham FC, and Michael Bradley from Borussia Monchengladbach.

England Preliminary Roster

Goalkeepers consist of Robert Green from West Ham United, Joe Hart from Manchester City and David James from Portsmouth.

Forwards consist of Wayne Rooney from Manchester United, Jermain Defore from Tottenham, Darren Bent from Sunderland, Emile Heskey from Aston Villa and Peter Crouch from Tottenham.

Defenders consist of Stephen Warnock from Aston Villa, John Terry from Chelsea, Glen Johnson from Liverpool, Michael Dawson from Tottenham, Jamie Carragher from Liverpool, Matthew Upson from West Ham United, Leighton Baines from Everton, Rio Ferdinand from Manchester United, Ledley King from Tottenham and Ashley Cole from Chelsea.

Midfielders consist of Shaun Wright-Phillips from Manchester City, Scott Parker from West Ham United, Aaron Lennon from Tottenham, Adam Johnson from Manchester Cit, Steven Gerrard from Liverpool, Michael Carrick from Manchester United, James Milner from Aston Villa, Gareth Barry from Manchester City, Frank Lampard from Chelsea, Theo Walcott from Arsenal, Tom Huddlestone from Tottenham and Joe Cole from Chelsea.
