Earlier this week, the announcements flowed in like crazy disclosing the 30 men that had made it on the preliminary roster for all 32 World Cup Teams. There were many surprises on the list in regards to players that made it as well as players that did not make the preliminary roster this week.

One of the largest surprises for the USA Team was a player that did not make the preliminary 30-man roster. Charles Davies who has shown improvement since his car accident that nearly killed him last October; however, the coach didn’t feel that he was quite ready to go to the World Cup and compete so heavily.

Now for a surprise of a player that made it. Oguchi Onyewu’s inclusion on the roster shocked many people. Sure, he is a very knowledgeable and talented international player; however, he has not been playing any games with his club team due to an injury that he incurred last year. Although he has completely recovered from the injury to his patella tendon, he was not included in the USA team preliminary roster of 30 men earlier this week.

One final surprise for the United States team is Brian Ching. He just commenced training and practice again just last week from a strained left hamstring injury that he incurred at the beginning of April in the team’s home opening game.

All 32 of the World Cup teams will have to eliminate seven men from their 30-man preliminary roster that they created earlier this week. The deadline for the cut is June 1. The final 23 men that make this cut will pack their bags and head to the gorgeous country of South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The USA team will have their World Cup opening game on June 12 against World Cup team England.
