The United States national soccer team has exceeded expectations up to this point in the 2010 World Cup, they may have only drawn the first two games they have played in the tournament against England (1-1) and Slovenia (2-2), but they still have a chance to advance to the knockout stage with a win over Algeria on Wednesday.

Throughout the first two games of the 2010 World Cup, Landon Donovan and company have struggled to put score goals in the early going as they have had to come from behind in both matches against England and Slovenia.

Fortunately, the US squad has been able to rally together and actually score some goals in order to pull off the draws, but they cannot continue to come from behind if they expect to advance to the knockout stages.

Even though the US had to come from behind against Slovenia, they were able to score what would have been a deciding third goal late in the game, but it was disallowed on a very bad call by the referee. Despite not being able to get the three points with a win over Slovenia, the US have a chance to control their own fate with a win this Wednesday.

Recently, the US got a little scare as forward Jozy Altidore came down with a stomach bug that could have seriously affected his playing status against Algeria, but despite earlier reports of the striker possibly missing this extremely important match, Altidore says he is good to go and will be able to play.

The presence of Altidore will be huge for the US as he is arguably the best forward on the team and will play a big role in the United States advancing to the next round.
