Could Nnamdi Asomugha be headed to the Philadelphia Eagles?

The NFL lockout is still underway with no sign of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) getting finalized anytime soon, but the league is buzzing about the available free agents when the lockout is officially over. Even though there are a lot of big-names that will become available once the new CBA goes into action, the one name that is getting more attention than any other is without a doubt the Oakland Raiders lockdown corner Nnamdi Asomugha.

Over the past few years, the Raiders have had arguably the best corner in the game as most people consider Asomugha to be second to none at his position. Obviously, despite Asomugha’s dominance, the Raiders have still been unable to turn the corner and get back into the playoffs.

Despite being unable to reach the playoffs last season, the Oakland Raiders still had a very promising year and the tide seems to be changing. With that being said, owner Al Davis and company have been weighing their options and believe it might be time to let Nnamdi Asomugha leave via free agency.

Now that Nnamdi Asomugha has almost certainly played his last game for the Oakland Raiders, the rest of the league will be interested in retaining his services. There has been talk about the New York Jets possibly bringing him in to play alongside Darrelle Revis in the Jets’ secondary, but the one team that seems to be most interested in acquiring Nnamdi Asomugha is the Philadelphia Eagles.

With the Eagles coming to life last season with quarterback Michael Vick under center, Philly will be looking to upgrade their defense and many people think that Nnamdi Asomugha would be the perfect fit in the secondary. The Eagles have had a solid defense over the years, but not a dominant one and the addition of Asomugha might bring them that distinction.
