As previously reported last week, Jason Taylor was headed to New York to meet with the coach of the New York Mets. Taylor’s agent was almost sure that a deal would be made if not during the visit then very soon after. However, that appears to not be true. It appears that Taylor is actually putting the decision off.
Taylor has a lot of pressure on his from the Mets right now, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping him from taking the time to think about this decision to join the New York Mets team. The deal with the Mets would bring Jason Taylor $2.5 million each year in the deal worth two years. Everyone was expecting a decision to be made earlier this week.
The decision doesn’t seem to be coming within the next few days though as Taylor left for a Costa Rica vacation yesterday. Obviously, there won’t be any decision made to join the New York Mets or not until he returns at the earliest, which will likely be Monday.
The NFL draft is coming up so the Mets are getting a little flustered. They obviously want a decision from Taylor prior to the draft that begins next Thursday – less than a week away. Then, on the other side of things, the Miami Dolphins, which is where he has been playing, don’t want to necessarily speak to Taylor until the draft has concluded. Nevertheless, Taylor doesn’t want to wait too long on making a decision for the Mets as they could very easily advance without him.
What do you think Taylor will choose? To sign with the New York Mets or wait for the Miami Dolphins to ask for his return? What do you think would be the best choice for Taylor?
