Tennessee Titans vs New York Giants Sun. Sept. 26th 1pm EST
The Tennessee Titans and the New York Giants are two promising young teams that have seemed to hit a bum in the road as they have a lot of questions about how good they really are on both sides of the football.
In my opinion, the Tennessee Titans are the better all around team right now, but the New York Giants do have the edge at quarterback with veteran Eli Manning under center. The problem for the Giants is that they have an inexperienced receiving corps and some turmoil at running back as Brandon Jacobs has asked to be traded. Expert online sportsbook odds makers have the spread at -3 Giants, so this should be interesting.
As for the Titans, there problems are solely resting on the shoulders of the face of the franchise in quarterback Vince Young. In Week 1 against the Oakland Raiders, Young and running back Chris Johnson put on a show that led to 38 points on the board and the first win of the season, but in Week 2 against the lockdown defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers both Young and Johnson struggled to get anything going.
As a result of Young’s fumble and two interceptions, Titans head coach decided to bench him once again in favor of veteran Kerry Collins. This turned out to be the right move as Collins was able to get the offense going again with 149 yards passing and a touchdown, but he also threw an interception and was unable to bring the team all the way back as Tennessee ultimately fell to Pittsburgh 19-11.
In Week 3, the Titans will head to New Meadowlands Stadium to face off against the Giants and try and rebuild the momentum they had in Week 1.
As of right now, the New York Giants are favored to win this game with a -3 point spread, but I believe the Tennessee Titans will pull off the slight upset as Chris Johnson will most likely run all over the Tom Coughlin’s defense.
