Chris Johnson agrees to deal for 2010 with the Tennessee Titans

Last season the Tennessee Titans had a roster coaster ride of a season as they started the year with six straight losses and seemed to be headed to a very disappointing season. Fortunately, the Titans played brilliantly in the second half of the season as they were able to win eight of the next ten games.

Needless to say, this was one hell of a turn around for a team that seemed destined to fail last season, but after Titans head coach Jeff Fisher decided to bench veteran quarterback Kerry Collins and start Vince Young in his place, this turned out the be turning point in the season for Tennessee.

Even though Vince Young playing up to his potential once again was a huge part of the Titans success last season, the emergence of up and coming running back Chris Johnson was the big story as he put up some big numbers with 2,006 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 503 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

With one of the best seasons of any running back in recent memory, Chris Johnson became arguably the best running back in the league last year and now is demanding a new contract from the Tennessee Titans. The top rated online sportsbooks have the Titans at +2900 to win the 2011 Super Bowl.

Despite Chris Johnson being more than deserving of a huge contract from the Titans, the Tennessee franchise will not pay their superstar back until after next season. In the meantime, the team has agreed to a deal which will pay the Pro Bowler $2.5 million dollars throughout the 2010-2011 NFL season.

Without this new deal, Johnson would have been set to make just $550,000 next season, but even though the league’s top rusher could have held out for a new multiple year contract, he decided to take less money now and prove that last season wasn’t a fluke.
