Detroit Lions vs Minnesota Vikings Sun. Sept. 26th 1pm EST
The Minnesota Vikings are arguably one of the best teams in the NFL today as they have a lockdown defense led by perennial Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen, a solid air attack with three-time NFL MVP quarterback Brett Favre under center and arguably the best ground game in the league with superstar running back Adrian Peterson coming out of the backfield.
Even with all these things going for them this season, the Vikings have still lost the first two games of the season to the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and the up and coming Miami Dolphins.
The odds on this game are not even close, with the Vikings sitting at -10.5 at Bodog, a leader in online sportsbooks and wagering.
Obviously, the loss to Drew Brees and company wasn’t much of a surprise because the Saints are about as good as it gets in the NFL, but the loss to the Dolphins was a surprise as most people anticipated the Vikings coming out with an easy win.
Despite losing the first two games of the season and making people question whether or not Brett Favre and company can contend for a Super Bowl title this season, the Minnesota Vikings will have a relatively easy game ahead of them in Week 3 as they will be defending their home field against the division rival Detroit Lions.
Even though the Lions have been somewhat of a joke in the NFC North division over the years, they have played pretty well this season despite starting 0-2. With the emergence of rookie running back Jahvid Best, the Lions offense has gotten that much more dynamic.
Unfortunately, without Matthew Stafford under center do to a shoulder injury that he suffered in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears, the Detroit Lions have struggled to get a win in the first couple of weeks.
The Lions might be able to test the Vikings defense in Week 3, but in the end I expect a big day from Brett Favre and company as they will almost certainly get the first win of the season.
