Cincinnati Bengals @ New England Patriots Sun. Sept. 12th 1pm EST
With a much improved offense, the Cincinnati Bengals will be heading into the 2010 NFL season with high hopes of repeating as AFC North division champs and possible contending for a Super Bowl title, but they will definitely have their work cut out for them in the AFC Conference as teams like the New England Patriots will be looking to reclaim their dominance in the conference. The odds for this matchup are set at 4.5 in favor of the Patriots by two of the leading online sportsbooks; Bodog and Bookmaker.
Obviously, the addition of perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver Terrell Owens alongside another Pro Bowl wideout in Chad Ochocinco is a huge upgrade for quarterback Carson Palmer and the Bengals offense, but with two explosive personalities on the gridiron this new superstar offense could quickly implode and do more harm than good.
Despite talks of the new Ochocinco/T.O. combination or Batman and Robin duo in Cincinnati possible being a nightmare for Carson Palmer and company, the Bengals will be a serious threat in the AFC North division once again.
In Week 1, the new dynamic duo will tested for the first time as they will go up against Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots on their home field at Foxboro.
The Patriots might not be the team they used to be a few years ago, but they are showing signs of promise as it could potentially be a big year for Tom Brady and company. With the New England offense getting back to form they could be Super Bowl title contenders once again, but their problems on defense could be their downfall for a second straight season.
This game has the potential to be shootout as they offenses will almost certainly go back and forth all day long, but in the end I believe it will be the Cincinnati Bengals defense that has the last laugh as they led their team to a 1-0 record to start the season.
