Thursday night was an eventful night for many and the third pick of the night came from the New Jersey Nets choosing Derrick Favors out of Georgia Tech.
The New Jersey Nets needed to find some of the best players to pick in the draft selection Thursday night. They recorded an all-time worst in the league this past season with a record of 12-70, which proves that the Nets need to add some depth to every part of their team and add strength as well as skill to each and every playing position. The 2010 NBA Draft took place on Thursday evening in New York City at Madison Square Gardens. The first pick of the night went to the Washington Wizards and they chose John Wall from Kentucky as their overall Number 1 draft pick of the night. Wall plays as point guard, weighs in at 195 lbs. and 6-foot-4, and was drafted out of the freshman class at Kentucky.
The Philadelphia 76ers was second to choose their draft pick, which they used to choose Evan Turner from the junior class at Ohio State. 6-foot-7 Turner plays as shooting guard. Turner will definitely be able to add some depth to the team that has long been needed. He is a top leader and scorer and will definitely help the 76ers to a win. Continue Reading…
The first two rounds of the 2010 NBA draft are officially in the books and there were plenty of deals made and some surprises, but the biggest story to come out of the draft so far is that five Kentucky Wildcats were selected which is an NBA Draft record.
There was no question that Kentucky point guard John Wall was going to go number one overall to the Washington Wizards, but four other Wildcats also going in the first round was impressive to say the least. This was a pretty good bet according to the most trusted online sportsbooks, most experts predicted Wall to go first. Continue Reading…
There were a lot of trades going on Thursday night during the NBA Draft of 2010. One of the largest trades was between the Chicago Bulls to the Washington Wizards in which they dealt a trade not only Kirk Hinrich but also the rights to their number 17 draft pick Kevin Seraphin in exchange for a potential second round draft pick.
As for other trades of the night:
The New Orleans Hornets dealt a trade to Oklahoma City the rights of their number 11 pick Cole Aldrich and Morris Peterson for their number 21 draft pick Craig Brackins as well as number 26 draft pick Quincy Pondexter. Continue Reading…
A lot of speculation has surrounded the Los Angeles Lakers recently after winning their second straight NBA title. Not only do the Lakers have some free agents decisions to make with Derek Fisher and Jordan Farmar, but their number one priority is the re-signing of legendary head coach Phil Jackson.
Throughout the past couple of years with the Los Angeles Lakers, Phil Jackson has repeatedly said that he is uncertain what he will do when his contract is up, but despite his uncertainty, most people believed that he would ultimately return as the Lakers will have a legitimate shot at an NBA title for at least the next three or four seasons. The online sportsbooks have loved the Lakers over this time period and always favor them nicely. Continue Reading…
The Chicago Bulls are one of only a handful of teams this summer that will have the means to sign a big-name free agent like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh, but after Thursday’s trade during the NBA Draft, the Bulls have taken another step in the right direction and now have the means to sign two big-name free agents come July 1st.
Throughout this past NBA regular season, the Chicago Bulls were shopping defensive minded point guard Kirk Hinrich in an attempt to clear some cap space for the upcoming free agent market. Unfortunately, despite fielding offers from teams like the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, the Bulls were unable to make a deal and Hinrich remained with the team a little while longer. The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off their second straight NBA title after being taken the distance by the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals, but even though most people believe that this team would not be thinking about next season for at least another month or so, the defending champs have already started looking at possible free agent additions. This past NBA regular season, the New Orleans Hornets had arguably their worst season in recent memory as they just couldn’t get anything going with any consistently and saw head coach Byron Scott get the boot and superstar point guard Chris Paul battle injuries all season long.
Not only were the New Orleans Hornets ravaged with injuries and going through a head coaching change this past season, but they also missed the playoffs and seemed to have little hope for the future moving forward. Continue Reading…
The Boston Celtics may have lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals recently, but it would be hard to argue that they didn’t have one of the most successful seasons in recent memory. Even though the franchise seems to be headed back in the right direction once again, the Celtics have a lot of unanswered questions moving forward.
Not only are three of the Boston Celtics most important players in Rasheed Wallace, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce possibly on their way out via free agency or retirement, but head coach Doc Rivers is also still uncertain about his future with the team. Continue Reading…
The Los Angeles Lakers have won their second straight NBA title with a thrilling game seven victory over their bitter rivals in the Boston Celtics. Even though the Lakers dominated throughout the majority of the playoffs, they were seriously tested by the Celtics in the NBA Finals and won arguably their toughest NBA title in recent memory. This was a great series.
This second consecutive NBA title for the Los Angeles Lakers was the fifth for Kobe Bryant and the 11th for head coach Phil Jackson (six with the Chicago Bulls, five with the Los Angeles Lakers). Last season the Zen Master broke the record for most NBA title won by a head coach with 10 beating out the Boston Celtics Red Auerbach and now Jackson has distanced himself even more from Red with another NBA title.
