Rather than Kyle Singler joining the NBA Draft, he will be returning to Duke to complete his senior year and season. Kyle Singler is the Most Outstanding Player for the Final Four this year and plans to help the Blue Devils make it to the NCAA Final Tournament and claim another championship title for the 2010-2011 basketball season.
Singler’s junior year was quite a successful one in many ways for not only him but the team as well. He raised his statistics significantly and he helped his team, the Duke Blue Devils, claim the NCAA title championship where they played against the Butler Bulldogs. This championship was the fourth one for Duke. He averaged 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 2.4 assists, and 17.7 points per game in his junior year at Duke.
If Singler had chosen to enter the NBA Draft, scouts saw him as a late first or possibly early second round draft pick. This is a position in the NBA Draft that many underclassmen would appreciate and it would excite them so much that they would go ahead and enter the draft. However, Singler decided to stay with Duke and raise his statistics more than what they are now. This could help him to be a better draft pick next year.
This all comes as exciting news to the Duke Blue Devils as they get to keep one of their leading players alongside another key player, Nolan Smith. Smith will be there with Singler to defend their NCAA championship title.
Although Singler has said that he will not enter the NBA draft, the NFL Draft is still open until Sunday night for players to insert their names. It is unlikely that Kyle Singler will change his mind about his senior season and go ahead and enter himself into the draft pool, but it is still an option that could happen – just an unlikely one.
