This season has been a breath of fresh air for the Oklahoma City Thunder as they have been able to completely turn around their franchise in just a single season.
Not only has Kevin Durant turned into arguably one of the best players in the league and the most dominant scorer in the game, but head coach Scott Brooks has been able to lead these young up and coming NBA players through an entire NBA season and into the playoffs.
Even though the Oklahoma City Thunder will almost certainly get knocked out of the first round of the playoffs, Brooks has been able to create a young team with an extremely promising future led by scoring machine Kevin Durant.
Despite Durant’s lack of experience and all the rookies and young players on this squad, Brooks’ coaching has been superb as he has been able to develop these players extremely fast and have them playing like a veteran team.
The Thunder’s fate in the playoffs is basically sealed in public opinion, as everyone sees the defending champs advancing to the second round, but Brooks has been able to keep his team focused and believing they can do the impossible.
With that being said, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been able to give Kobe Bryant and company all they can handle in the first round already as it could be argued that the Thunder could have very well been heading back to their home floor in game three with one or even two wins over the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.
Ultimately, I don’t think the Thunder will be able to beat the Lakers in this series, but it will be interesting to see what they can do on their home floor over the next two games.
