During Game 4 of the NBA Finals, all anyone could talk about was Dirk Nowitzki’s fever and 100+ body temperature. This seems to be a common thing in big games in the NBA these days ever since Michael Jordan had such a brilliant performance for the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz in 1998.
Obviously, with Nowitzki having this fever, the consensus was that the Miami Heat would be able to dominate the Dallas Mavericks. With that being said, the Heat were thought to cruise to victory and a 3-1 series lead in the NBA Finals.
Unfortunately for Miami, that didn’t turn out to be the case as Dirk Nowitzki still led his team in scoring with 21 points and was crucial to Dallas’ Game 4 victory at American Airlines Center. Even though Nowitzki still had a solid performance in Game 4 with 21 points and 11 rebounds, it was definitely a team effort as Jason Terry finished with 17 points, Shawn Marion added 16 points and Tyson Chandler had arguably his best game of the series with 13 points and 16 rebounds.
Now that the Dallas Mavericks have tied up the series at two games apiece, the focus is on Game 5 and reportedly Dirk Nowitzki is doing just fine as he says the fever is gone and he is ready to go!
This is great news for the Dallas Mavericks as they will have a perfect opportunity to put a lot of pressure on the Miami Heat with a win in Game 5. If the Mavs can come out on top in Game 5, the Heat will be facing elimination heading back to South Beach and for the rest of the NBA Finals.
