This NBA regular season was an absolutely nightmare for the Washington Wizards in more ways than one as they quickly went from a team ready to compete in the Eastern Conference to arguably the worst team in the league once again.
Coming into this NBA season, the Wizards had high hopes of getting back to form as their superstar point guard Gilbert Arenas was finally healthy and ready to lead the team back to being a force to be reckoned with.
Unfortunately, the Wizards got off to a horrible start to the season and never recovered. Not only were the Wizards struggling trying to get some team chemistry back, but Gilbert Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton got into an altercation in the locker room involving guns and were severely disciplined by the league.
As a result, Arenas was suspended for the rest of the season and the Washington Wizards basically fell off the map in the Eastern Conference. Things got so bad after the Arenas situation that the front office basically dismantled the entire team by trading away any player of significant value.
After trading away both Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison, the Wizards were officially rebuilding and looking to start fresh next season.
Fortunately for Arenas, the Wizards have chosen to give him another chance as they will still honor his contract, but they will be faced with a tough decision in the upcoming NBA Draft after winning the number overall pick recently in the Draft Lottery.
As of right now, the Kentucky Wildcats point guard John Wall is the one player everyone is expecting to see get drafted number, but if he does, it could pose a problem with superstar Gilbert Arenas.
Personally, I believe drafting John Wall is a no-brainer as he is an extremely talented athlete, but what I think the Wizards should do is move Arenas to the two spot where he seems best suited. That way the Wizards could quite possibly have one of the best backcourts in the NBA.
