Dallas Cowboys @ New York Jets Sun. Sept. 11, 2011 8:20 p.m. EST
Week 1 of the NFL regular season looks like it could be one of the best weeks of the year for football with some great matchups to open the season, but perhaps one of the most intriguing matchups will be played at New Meadowlands Stadium when the Dallas Cowboys take on the New York Jets.
Not only are the Cowboys and the Jets considering to be two of the most talented teams in the NFL coming into this Week 1 showdown, but this game will showcase a battle of the Ryan brothers with Rex Ryan leading New York against Rob Ryan’s Dallas defense. This will be interesting to say the least as both brothers have similar styles and learnt everything they know from their father in the legendary Buddy Ryan.
Despite the fact that there are some extremely talented football players on both sides of the football for both of these teams, the New York Jets are considered to be the better all-around team with Super Bowl aspirations once again this season. With two straight appearances in the AFC Championship game under head coach Rex Ryan, the Jets have become a perennial Super Bowl title contender and will try to make the next step this season.
The Dallas Cowboys on the other hand are looking to pick up the pieces from a disappointing year last season in which they missed the playoffs and were considered to be one of the worst teams in the league at season’s end. This year that will be back healthy and with a new attitude as new head coach Jason Garrett tries to turn this talented football team around.
As of right now, the New York Jets are favored to win this game with a -5 point spread. Weird spread, but I’d say it is a solid bet to pick the Jets to beat the Cowboys by at least a touchdown.
Take the Jets at -5.
