It appears that Patrick Willis, linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers is not the only football star that is agreeing to a contract that is worth more than $50 million. The New Orleans Saints, Super Bowl XLIV title winner from last year, has agreed to a huge money deal that is worth $56 million for seven years for guard Jahri Evans, who has been a restricted free agent for the past two NFL seasons. Some media reports state that this deal is worth exactly $56.7 million with a guaranteed $19 million.
26-year-old Evans was a fourth round draft pick in 2006 and was a choice for 2009 All-Pro as well as Pro Bowl. Since being selected in the 2006 NFL Draft fourth round from Bloomsburg University, he has started a total of 64 games as the right guard and has not missed a single one.
He is known as one of the best linemen throughout the NFL. In his first spring training camp, he received the starting position for the game and has shown his team and coaches promise ever since. It is no wonder that he is getting such a huge deal with the Saints.
Evans, weighing in at 318 pounds and 6 foot 4 inches tall, agreed to the seven-year contract worth more than $56 million with the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday. This particular deal with Evans and the Saints is the largest for an offensive lineman and will make Willis the top earner in NFL history for. Once this seven-year deal is up, Evans will be at age 34, which will be within the 2016 NFL season.
With Evans’ as well as Willis’ huge deals this week, do you think there are more to come? If so, who do you think deserves a large deal like these?
