The NFL regular season might still be about a month away with the New Orleans Saints starting off their title defense against the Minnesota Vikings on September 9th, but preseason has officially begun with the Dallas Cowboys taking on the Cincinnati Bengals in the Hall of Fame Game.
Not only was this game a big deal for the Dallas Cowboys as they witnessed arguably their best player of all-time in running back Emmitt Smith get inducted into the Hall of Fame, but it would also be the first time they would see former Cowboy Terrell Owens on the other side of football field as he made his debut with the Bengals.
As usual, during a preseason game, the stars only played for the first couple of series in the first quarter, but it was enough to get everyone excited about football once again. With Tony Romo throwing passes to Miles Austin and Jason Witten and Carson Palmer connecting with Terrell Owens for the first time, NFL fans finally got a taste of football and the much anticipated NFL season is only weeks away.
Even though it is hard to get good understanding of how well teams will play in the regular season after watching a preseason game, the Dallas Cowboys looked really good on both sides of the football with the defense having the potential to be amongst the best in the league.
As for the Cincinnati Bengals, Carson Palmer and company could be a force to be reckoned with as he had no problem connecting with his new superstar wide receiver Terrell Owens who finished with two catches and 18 yards.
So even though the Dallas Cowboys dominated this game and won their first preseason game 16-7, both the Cincinnati Bengals and America’s Team look like they could be elite teams in the league next season.
