As always, the NFL’s biggest game has been surrounded with all sorts of hype and media exposure in the two weeks heading towards Super Bowl XLV, but the one headline dominating the rest is the health of Steelers’ Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey’s ankle injury.
Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers have a viable backup in Doug Legersky, who came in for the injured All-Pro in the AFC Championship game against the New York Jets, Pouncey is amongst the league’s best at his position and could really hurt the offense of the Steelers if he is a no go on Super Bowl Sunday. The NFL Pro Bowl is now officially the last football game before Super Bowl Sunday after the NFL decided to fill the void left one week before the big game. This format may not last for long as a lot of the players elected to the Pro Bowl can make the game either due to injuries or the fact that they are on one of the two teams headed to the Super Bowl. For the time being, the Pro Bowl will be played at the end of the January, but I don’t it expect it to last much longer as it just isn’t working. Continue Reading…
The 2011 NBA All-Star game is about three weeks away and will most likely be another epic event as it will be played in Los Angeles, California on the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers home floor of the Staples Center.
Ironically enough, Lakers superstar guard Kobe Bryant was the leading vote-getter for this year’s All-Star game with 2.4 million votes. Along with Kobe leading the way for the Western Conference All-Stars, here is the rest of the West roster followed by the Eastern Conference All-Star starters: Continue Reading…
The NFL playoffs is come down to just two teams as Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Arlington, Texas to battle it out in Super Bowl XLV, but there is still just one game left to be played before Super Bowl Sunday.
This weekend some of the best of the best in the NFL will head to Honolulu, Hawaii to take part in a head-to-head showdown between the AFC and NFC. Even though being a Pro Bowler is thought to be something the many players in the NFL are proud of to put on their resume, not many of these big name players actually make it as they are either recovering from injury or playing in the Super Bowl. The Cincinnati Bengals came into this NFL regular season with high hopes of being amongst the best teams in the league once again as they had the same AFC North champion team relatively intact with a key addition in perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver Terrell Owens. Even though the Bengals were poised to make a run at the AFC North division title for a second straight year and possibly become a Super Bowl title contender in the AFC, Cincinnati just couldn’t play consistently well this season and finished the year with just four wins. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most successful teams in the NFL for quite some time now, but they ever since they drafted versatile quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, this team has always had a shot at making it all the way to the Super Bowl every single season.
Coming into these NFL playoffs, the Pittsburgh Steelers had won the AFC North division title and clinched a first-round bye, but they had to face the division rival Baltimore Ravens in their first playoff game. Even though the Steelers were considered to be amongst the best teams in the league, they had their hands full against the Ravens. Continue Reading…
AFC Championship Game
New York Jets @ Pittsburgh Steelers Sun. Jan. 23rd 2011 6:30pm EST
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets are set to go head-to-head this weekend and what could turn out to be a dogfight from start to finish. Both of these teams have two of the best defenses in the league today and are known for shutting down some of the most potent offenses in the NFL.
Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to get the best of their bitter division rival Baltimore Ravens last weekend, the New York Jets have been arguably one most impressive teams in the playoffs thus far as they have been able to beat two of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time in consecutive weeks by taking down Peyton Manning in the first round and getting the best of Tom Brady last weekend.
It is always tough to pick a winner when a game is dictated by the defense like this one will be, but I believe the Jets are the better all around team coming into this matchup and should get the best of the Steelers regardless of their playoff experience in the past.
Ben Roethlisberger is as tough to stop as any quarterback in this league with his ability to avoid tackles and extend plays, but the Jets defenses up to the task and should contain the two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback this weekend. Below are the latest odds from online sportsbooks.

NFC Championship Game
Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears Sun. Jan. 23rd 2011 3pm EST
The NFL is chock-full of division rivalries that can be extremely entertaining during the regular season, but in the NFC championship game one of the most bitter rivalries in the NFL will take place as the Green Bay Packers will head to the Windy City to take on the NFC North division champion Chicago Bears.
It is no secret that there is no love lost between these two division rivals, but this time around the Super Bowl appearances on the line which takes this rivalry up a notch as this will be arguably one of the biggest games in franchise history for both of these teams.
Even though this game will be played at Soldier Field in Chicago, the Green Bay Packers have been given the edge as they have a -3.5 point spread in their favor coming into the NFC Championship game.
Despite the Chicago Bears defense been as hard to score one as any team in league, I believe the Green Bay Packers have what it takes on offense to get the best of his lockdown defense and should advance to the Super Bowl. Below are the odds for this weekend’s incredible NFL football betting matchup.
BetDSI Sportsbook:
Spread: Green Bay Packers -3.5 & Chicago Bears +3.5

Over/Under: Green Bay Packers 110 over & Chicago Bears 110 under (43)

NFC Championship Game: Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears Sun. Jan. 23rd 2011 3pm EST
The NFC North division is about as competitive as it gets in the NFL today as two to three teams within the division are more than capable of winning the division title and possibly contending for Super Bowl title.
This season was a perfect example of that as both the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears have been able to defy the odds and make it all the way to the NFC Championship game. Not only is it fitting that these two teams within the same division were able to make it all the way to the NFC Championship game, but both teams made it their goal this season to be one another in order to judge the success of the year. There is no question that the Oakland Raiders have been one of the worst NFL franchises over the past eight years or so. They may have been able to make it to the Super Bowl back in 2003 and were considered arguably one of the best teams in the league back then, but ever since they have really struggled to win consistently or even put a competitive football team on the gridiron every single week. The New York Jets have become known as a scrappy football team with a lot of players and a head coach that like to talk trash. Not only do they talk a lot of trash, but they back it up with a lockdown defense and a much improved offense led by second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez.
Coming into the NFL playoffs, Rex Ryan and company had the odds against them as they were set to face off against four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning and the high powered offense of the Indianapolis Colts. Even though the New York Jets have arguably one of the best defenses in the league, the Peyton Manning and his boys were favored to come out on top in this Wild-card matchup as they have played as good as any team in the league in the playoffs.
