25 August 2025

Star of The Hunger Games franchise, Jennifer is leading Hollywood women when it comes to pay in 2016, earning a whopping $46 million United States dollars in the past 12 months before tax. McCarthy out-earned "Lucy" actress Scarlett Johansson, who secured the third spot on the Forbes' list with $25 million (AU$32.5 million). Her work on the X-men and Hunger Games franchises, including the latest installments, Mockingjay - Part 2 and X-Men: Apocalypse respectively, helped earn her the top spot on Forbes' list once again. Another boon to Lawrence's pre-tax earnings came from a massive upfront fee for her upcoming sci-fi flick "Passengers", Forbes said. However, her total income was down by 11.5% from last year's $52 million. But alas, she's still untouchable.

Actress Jennifer Aniston's earnings of $21 million score her fourth place, with Chinese actress Fan Bingbing was fifth with her annual takings of $17 million.

According to prestigious business magazine Forbes, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is the tenth highest paid actress in the world with earnings of $10 million. Lawrence is also the youngest woman on this year's list, and the only actress under the age of 30. This year represented the largest-ever annual paycheck for McCarthy, whose earnings increased by $10 million from 2015.

Ninety per cent of the women on the 2016 Forbes list supplemented their pay from acting gigs with major endorsement deals, according to Forbes.
