#1 Miami Heat (27-7)
Heading into the All-Star break in the NBA, it would be hard to argue that the Miami Heat weren’t the best all-around team in the league. With LeBron James and company playing exceptionally well on both ends of the floor, the Heat have been near flawless in the first half of the season with just seven losses thus far. Continue Reading…
The saga continues for the reigning Sixth Man of the Year as Lamar Odom tries to figure out what to do with his life. No player in the league has had to deal with more tragedy or drama over the past year or so than Mr. Kardashian himself. With multiple family tragedies and being traded by the Los Angeles Lakers after arguably his best season in the NBA, Odom has had to deal with many obstacles consecutively. Continue Reading…
The NBA All-Star for this shortened season is officially in the books with plenty of highlights and some controversy late in the game. With no clear favorite between the Eastern and Western Conference All-Stars this season, there was no telling which team would come out on top or actually play some defense.
Obviously, this game is much like the NFL Pro Bowl in terms of no player wanting to get hurt or hurt another player. This year that distinction seems to have changed a bit with superstar Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers) suffering a broken nose and concussion-like symptoms after a hard foul from Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat) when driving to the basket. The Western and Eastern All-Star teams this season were some of the most talented combinations of players in this annual NBA event in recent history. With Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers) and Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder) headlining the West and LeBron James (Miami Heat) and Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic) highlighting the East squad, there were bound to be fireworks. Before this season got underway on Christmas Day, the Los Angeles Clippers were considered to be arguably one of the worst NBA franchises in the history of the league. Not only were they one of the worst in the NBA, but it could be argued that the Clippers franchise has been one of the worst in sports history.
That is definitely saying something about the franchise and at times has left people scratching their heads about why this team couldn’t get it together playing in one of the biggest markets in this country. With Los Angeles being a desired destination of all athletes and many people around the world for that matter, the Clippers shouldn’t have much trouble drawing the free agents and making trades. The one team in the NBA that has made more noise than any other this season in terms of trade rumors and certain players around the league being linked to a possible trade with this team is the Los Angeles Lakers. After getting the blockbuster trade for Chris Paul vetoed at the beginning of the season, the Lakers have been forced to trade reigning Sixth Man of the Year Lamar Odom (Dallas Mavericks) and kept Pau Gasol on edge. Continue Reading…
The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Lakers have been linked together ever since the 2011 NBA draft. With the two teams supposedly talking about a trade for the second overall pick and Kevin Love, the Lakers were highly interested and seemed ready to part ways with Pau Gasol. Ultimately, the deal was never made and the T’Wolves are better for it with Love having a career year. Continue Reading…
In less than two weeks (March 8), the Indianapolis Colts and superstar quarterback Peyton Manning will have to make a decision that will forever change the franchise and could drastically change the quarterback position for another team in the NFL. The Colts have already openly told Manning that the future of the franchise is rookie quarterback Andrew Luck (Stanford) and that he wants to stay they will need to restructure his contract. Perhaps one of the most anticipated games of the week took place on Thursday night as Linsanity traveled down to South Beach to take on the red-hot Miami Heat for the first time since Jeremy Lin took center stage in the Big Apple. The New York Knicks were no doubt confident in their new star point guard and their ability to compete with arguably the best team in the league, but the results on the floor were entirely different. The 2012 NBA All-Star game takes place this weekend at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida and before Wednesday the rosters were pretty much set in stone for both the Eastern and Western Conferences. With the recent injury to guard Joe Johnson (tendinitis) of the Atlanta Hawks, one spot has opened up in the East.
One player thought to be an alternate if a player was injured was Johnson’s teammate with the Hawks in forward Josh Smith. With Smith playing All-Star caliber basketball right now and arguably one of the biggest All-Star snubs this year, the consensus was that he would fill the void if a player went down, but the fact that Johnson is a guard meant that they had to replace him with a guard.
