First Victory for Dodger’s John Ely

Well, in the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday, he definitely showed coaches and fans exactly where he belongs – on the mound out on the field. Within six innings, Ely was able to only pitch two runs to the Diamondbacks, resulting in his very first victory in the major leagues of 13-3.

Ely was first taken off the roster after last week’s start until Charlie Haegar incurred an injury that put him on the disabled list and opened up a spot for Ely. Luckily, for Ely, he isn’t going to be demoted again after this victory.

Rather than being demoted, Ely has actually earned a roster spot for starting rotation. He was able to strike out six players and give no walks. He left after the seventh inning after only allowing two runs for the other team. Continue Reading…

Woods Out of the Players Championship Due to a Possible Bulging Disk

As if Tiger Woods hasn’t already had enough going on in his life over the course of the past several months, he now has another problem upon him. Woods had to suddenly withdraw from the Players Championship Sunday due to pain his neck, which he is predicting and fearing may be a bulging disk.

Woods says that he has been playing through this pain in his neck since before the Masters, but he just simply can’t handle the pain any longer to play. He is unsure what initially caused this injury, but he does know that playing is not helping the injury. Continue Reading…

Bengals Sign Adam “Pacman” Jones Officially

Monday, the Bengals made an official announcement that they had signed free agent cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones and he will be returning to the NFL. The Bengals said that Jones will participate in Tuesday’s practice and will more than likely be willing to speak to media reporters after the practice. It was last Thursday, Adam Jones’ agent had first revealed the two-year deal between the Bengals and Jones.

This will be Jones’ first appearance back to the NFL since 2008. Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 NFL season then the Cowboys traded him. He was then suspended for six weeks into the 2008 NFL season and only playing a total of nine games in addition to not playing the entire season last year after the Cowboys released him from the team in February of 2009 due to a quarrel with a bodyguard. Pacman Jones gets another new start with the Cincinnati Bengals

Throughout the history of the NFL, especially in today’s game, players around the league have been getting into a lot of trouble off the field and causing a lot of problems for their current teams. Despite these primetime athletes constantly getting in serious legal trouble off the field, NFL teams still seem to be giving these troubled players a second, third and fourth chance to resurrect their careers.

With players in the past like Michael Irvin, OJ Simpson and Lawrence Taylor and players in the league today like Tank Johnson, Randy Moss, Santonio Holmes, Ben Roethlisberger and Pacman Jones, the NFL seems like a breeding ground for criminals. Continue Reading…

Steroid Violation Causes Four Game Suspension for Brian Cushing

Last season, Brian Cushing was rewarded and honored as the Defensive Rookie of the Year in the NFL for the Houston Texans. He has now been put on a four game suspension due to violating an NFL policy regarding the use of performance-enhancing substances.

Although Cushing will be required to miss this season’s first four games, he will be allowed to partake in the preseason as well as training camp. Cushing is a valuable member to the team and the Coaches will admit this; however, they are preparing the team to make it without Cushing and to win the first four games of the season. The Fate Has Been Established for JaMarcus Russell

Early last week we reported that there was some speculation about the cutting of JaMarcus Russell from the Oakland Raiders. Many thought that it was a good idea while others thought Russell should stay and have the opportunity to play with Oakland. Well, the official answer has now been released by the Oakland Raiders and they have decided to release Russell from the team.

Although JaMarcus Russell was the first overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft from LSU and the team shelled out over $30 million in his first NFL season alone, he has never really been able to meet the expectations of his coaches. He didn’t attend the first training camp for the team and ended up missing the start of the season. Needless to say when he started playing, which wasn’t until the end of the 2007 year in December, it didn’t go that well for him. Continue Reading…

$56 Million Deal for Saints’ Jahri Evans

It appears that Patrick Willis, linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers is not the only football star that is agreeing to a contract that is worth more than $50 million. The New Orleans Saints, Super Bowl XLIV title winner from last year, has agreed to a huge money deal that is worth $56 million for seven years for guard Jahri Evans, who has been a restricted free agent for the past two NFL seasons. Some media reports state that this deal is worth exactly $56.7 million with a guaranteed $19 million.

26-year-old Evans was a fourth round draft pick in 2006 and was a choice for 2009 All-Pro as well as Pro Bowl. Since being selected in the 2006 NFL Draft fourth round from Bloomsburg University, he has started a total of 64 games as the right guard and has not missed a single one. Continue Reading…
