Brittney Griner Taking Time Off From WNBA

In order to concentrate on her mental health, WNBA star Brittney Griner is taking a vacation from basketball.
The Phoenix Mercury travelled without Griner on their two-game road trip to Chicago and Indiana this week.
The Mercury stated in a statement, “The Mercury fully support Brittney and we will continue to work together on a timeline for her return.”
The group declined to say whether Griner’s 10-month detention in a Russian prison is to blame for her mental health problems.
Months after authorities discovered cannabis oil in her luggage at the Moscow airport, the basketball star was found guilty last year on narcotics charges in a Russian court. Griner was given a nine-year prison sentence even though she insisted that the oil had been prescribed to her to manage pain.
In a surprising prisoner exchange with infamous arms dealer Viktor Bout, she was freed in December.
Before making his return to basketball competition with the Mercury at the start of the season, Griner took a break from the sport for nearly 18 months.
The superstar continued where she left off, scoring 18 points and pulling down six rebounds each contest. The Mercury, though, are having trouble winning games.
They presently hold the 10th spot in the 12-team league with a record of 6-18 for the year.
