2010 World Cup Quarter Final Preview: Brazil vs. The Netherlands

After two days off the competitive field, the first game of the 2010 World Cup quarter finals gets underway today and will be a match between Brazil and the Netherlands, both of which have not had a loss in this year’s World Cup.

As of right now, the favorite to win the World Cup is Brazil, who are five-time World Cup champions, but the Netherlands are definitely give them a run for their money; they may have been considered the underdogs at one time but they are proving themselves viable this year.

In the Round of 16, Brazil defeated Chile 3-0, which is when they performed their best. In addition, in the course of this year’s competition, Brazil has only permitted two goals. Brazil has what it takes to progress to the semi finals on both the defensive side as well as the offensive side of the game.

As for the Netherlands, they are 4-0 with no losses and if they can breeze past Brazil today, they actually have a shot to win it all. The Netherlands have successfully netted two goals in all but one of their games this year and have only permitted two goals in this year’s competition.

In all honesty, most people believe that Brazil will be able to easily take down the Netherlands so betting will be tough on this one; however, I think that if the Netherlands can keep their skill together , push it forward, and give it more than 110%, that they may just have a chance in this quarter final match to advance over Brazil. I mean, they have been unbeaten for the past 23 consecutive soccer matches so that’s gotta count for something.

A strong suit for the Netherlands may be that they have no players out with injuries and will be able to play off of the fact that Brazil is going to be without at least midfielder Ramires as well as Elano.

The team that wins in the Brazil vs. The Netherlands match will compete with the winner of the Ghana vs. Uruguay quarter finals soccer match.
