The NHL West Conference Playoffs will see the Chicago Blackhawks rather than the Vancouver Canucks. In Game 6, the Blackhawks successfully won the game with a 5-1 win over the Canucks. The Stanley Cup Playoffs will now host a game with the Blackhawks against the San Jose Sharks.

Game 6 of Blackhawks vs. Canucks had a first period of no scores made. In the second period, both Kris Versteeg as well as Troy Brouwer made early cores with Dave Bolland making a score later in the period to give Chicago a 3-0 lead over Vancouver. Moving into the third period, Vancouver received their first score by Shane O’Brien but then Chicago came back with two scores by Dustin Byfuglien and Patrick Kane. This gave the 5-1 score that let the Chicago Blackhawks successfully advance to the Western Conference NHL Playoffs.

This is the second consecutive year that the Canucks have lost to the Blackhawks. Last year, the Canucks suffered a loss at United Center to the Blackhawks of 7-5 where their goaltender, Roberto Luongo, had a meltdown because of bad plays. This year, though, the loss came at 5-1 at their very own home and Luongo was a better player – but just was not good enough it seems. This is the third loss for Vancouver to Chicago.

The intended advancement that Vancouver had hoped to make has not come so easily to the team since the year 1994. They made it to the Stanley Cup Final but were unable to hold off the New York Rangers in the playoffs in Game 7.
