Arizona Wildcats (5) vs. Texas Longhorns (4) Sun. March 20, 2025 6:10 p.m. EST
Coming into the 2011 NCAA Tournament, the Texas Longhorns (4) were considered to be a serious force to be reckoned with in college basketball as they had the tools and the talented to make a run in the tournament. Even though they are just the four seed in the extremely competitive West Region, the Longhorns are as good as any team in their region and will look to prove that as they continue to play a solid brand of basketball.
In the third round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament, the Texas Longhorns (4) will take the up and coming Arizona Wildcats (5). Even though the Wildcats weren’t able to wrap up the Pac-10 conference title like predicted, Arizona is still a very talented college basketball program with a bright future right now. They may not be the best team in the West Region and will almost certainly have trouble with the Longhorns, but when they are on their game they can play with any team left in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
As of right now, the Texas Longhorns (4) will be the team to beat in this third round matchup as they have been given the edge with a -6 point spread. Despite the fact that I believe this game could ultimately be an extremely tight game from start to finish, Texas (6) should come out with the win to face either the Duke Blue Devils (1) or the Michigan Wolverines (8) in the Sweet 16.
This matchup does have that upset feel to it as the Texas Longhorns (4) might be a little too confident that they can come out with a win over the Arizona Wildcats (5) on Sunday night, but I feel they should do just that and keep their Final Four hopes alive.
