No player in the 2011 NCAA tournament has been talked about more than the BYU Cougars’ (3) Jimmer Fredette. Even though the UConn Huskies (3) star guard Kemba Walker and the Ohio State Buckeyes’ (1) Jarred Sullinger has gotten a lot of attention as of late, Jimmer Fredette trumps them all as he has been arguably the most unstoppable force in college basketball all season long.

With college basketball basically being one and done now since most players with big names decide to jump to the NBA level, the NCAA tournament hasn’t really had much star power over the past two years. Last season was the exception as the Kentucky Wildcats had some of the biggest names in college basketball and were considered one of the best teams in the nation.

This year seems to continue with that trend as the BYU cougars have arguably the most entertaining scoring guard in recent memory. With Jimmer Fredette leading the way, most people think that the Cougars could be headed to a national championship, but with suspensions and lack of talent around him, BYU (3) hasn’t exactly had it easy and it had to fight off the first two opponents.

Coming into the match up with the Gonzaga Bulldogs, the BYU Cougars (3) were thought to get a run for their money and that they did in the first half, but Jimmer Fredette and company started to pull away in the second with some impressive play.

As he always seems to do, Fredette lit up the scoreboard once again with a game-high 34 points and was able to lead his team to a second straight win in that 2011 NCAA tournament over the Gonzaga Bulldogs, 89-67.

In the Sweet Sixteen, Jimmer Fredette and company will take on the Florida Gators (2) in what will potentially be their biggest challenge thus far.
