#1 San Antonio Spurs (40-15)
As the only team in the NBA this season to win 11 games in a row (twice), the San Antonio Spurs have absolutely been on a roll as of late. Even though the Spurs recently lost to the Utah Jazz (91-84), San Antonio continues to prove that they aren’t over-the-hill just yet and might be ready to make one more run at an NBA title with head coach Greg Popovich at the helm.
#2 Oklahoma City Thunder (42-15)
The Oklahoma City Thunder has started to hit a few bumps in the road as of late with three straight losses recently that kind of shook the foundation of arguably the best team in the league. Despite the losing streak, the Thunder was able to bounce back with a win over the Milwaukee Bucks (109-89) to reclaim the top spot in the Western Conference.
#3 Miami Heat (40-15)
Before the NBA season began on Christmas Day, no one doubted the fact that the Miami Heat was the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. Now, that distinction seems to be with the Chicago Bulls with the Heat showing flaws the closer we get to playoff time.
#4 Chicago Bulls (43-14)
Even without superstar Derrick Rose for a third of the season, the Chicago Bulls has been able to maintain dominant status in the East and are arguably the toughest team in the league heading into the playoffs in the coming weeks. The real question now will be whether or not they can maintain their dominance with Rose back in the fold.
#5 Memphis Grizzlies (32-23)
Last season the Memphis Grizzlies were the biggest surprise team in the NBA playoffs. After taking out the number one seeded San Antonio Spurs in the first round, the Grizzlies were a force to be reckoned and this year seems like more of the same with the playoffs right around the corner.
