The Miami Heat made the biggest impact in the NBA off-season as they were able to land three NBA superstars in free agency with LeBron James, Chris Bosh and re-signing face of the franchise Dwyane Wade. With the league’s newest “Big Three”, the Miami Heat were set to make a power shift in the NBA and possibly make it all the way to the NBA Finals in their first season together.
So far, the Heat has lived up to expectations as they have quickly become one of the best teams in the league and a legitimate title contender. Even though they have considered improved their chances of winning an NBA championship, Miami has inspired some other teams in the league to make the same kind of changes in order to contend with the best of the best in the league.
In the near future, there will be plenty of teams that will most likely follow in the footsteps of the Miami Heat by making their own “Big Three”, but the New York Knicks have already made their first move by trading for superstar forward Carmelo Anthony to play alongside Amare Stoudemire in the Big Apple.
On Sunday night, the two teams faced off for the first time since the big trade and the results didn’t turn out in the Miami Heat’s favor. Despite the Heat dominating the Knicks in the first half with a 15-point lead heading into halftime, Miami just couldn’t contend with the likes of New York’s newest additions as Carmelo Anthony and veteran point guard Chauncey Billups took over in the fourth quarter.
With Mr. Big Shot hitting the go-ahead 3-pointer with about a minute remaining, the New York Knicks were able to pull off the upset by beating the Miami Heat on their home floor 91-86.
Carmelo Anthony finished with a team-high 27 points while LeBron James led the way for the Miami Heat with a game-high 29 points.
