There was no other team in the NBA heading into the playoffs that was thought to have a better chance of winning an NBA title at season’s end than the Cleveland Cavaliers. The defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers were thought to have a legitimate shot at repeating, but the Cavs just looked better in every which way and had a lot of momentum moving forward.
Last season the Cleveland Cavaliers were thought to be the best team in the league heading into the postseason and were favored to win it all, but once they reached the Eastern Conference finals, they really underestimated the Orlando Magic and were dominated by Dwight Howard and company.
Needless to say, the Orlando Magic went on to the NBA finals and were beaten by the eventual NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, but the Magic seemed to establish themselves as the best team in the Eastern Conference.
Coming into this season, the Cleveland Cavaliers had a huge chip on their shoulder to prove to everyone that the Eastern Conference finals nothing more than a fluke. Throughout the NBA regular season, that seemed to be the case as LeBron James and company were arguably the best team in the league led by the best player, but once again failed to get it done in the playoffs and were knocked out by the Boston Celtics and six games.
Not only does getting knocked out early in the playoffs after being favored to make it always the NBA Finals and come out on top become a problem that has to be corrected, but LeBron James officially becomes a free agent on July 1st and will more than likely decide to leave Cleveland in favor of the New York Knicks or the Chicago Bulls.
