After missing three straight games with a shin injury on his left leg, Kobe Bryant will also miss a fourth as he will not be active for Friday night’s game against the Denver Nuggets at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
So despite losing the walking boot to protect the bruised left shin, Kobe appears to still be nursing that injury and might be out all the way up to Sunday’s game against the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks. Not only may Kobe miss that game against the Mavs, but he might be out until the Los Angeles Lakers second meeting with the San Antonio Spurs next week.
Ironically enough, this shin injury of Kobe Bryant’s hasn’t sent up any red flags or warning signs for the Los Angeles Lakers moving forward. Other NBA title contenders like the Chicago Bulls has been very concerned about their superstar Derrick Rose and his injury problems this season, but the Lakers aren’t worried about their five-time NBA champion as this seems to be mearly an attempt to rest the 33-year-old before the playoffs.
As it is widely known around the NBA, Kobe Bryant is one of the toughest players in the league’s history. Nothing has restrained Kobe in the past from getting on the floor and producing at a high level for the Lakers night in and night out. This season has been the exception with the grueling schedule of a compact 66-game regular season.
Despite the Lakers losing one of the three games that Kobe has missed thus far, not having the league’s leading scorer on the floor has been a blessing in disguise for the Lakeshow as they seem to be coming together as a team as of late. Metta World Peace, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum are picking up the slack and looking great process with impressive performances from all three players.
