MLB Preview – Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets September 19, 2025 at 1:10pm ET

Sunday, the Atlanta Braves are looking to finish a three-game series finale against the New York Mets with a victory. The Braves will attempt a sweep at Citi Field Sunday after losing their previous four series this year.

Bodog, online sportsbook, have the New York Mets as -110 moneyline favorites against the -110 Atlanta Braves.

The Braves will have Derek Lowe on the mound who is 13-12 with an earned run average of 4.22 overall but against the Mets this season, he is 0-2 with an earned run average of 2.95 in three starts. All three of those games with Lowe as the starting pitcher were losses.

Lowe’s last great game was against Washington on Monday when he took his team to a 4-0 victory after having 12 strikeouts, which was a career-high for Lowe, and allowed six hits in eight innings.

Against Lowe, Carlos Beltran, centerfielder for the Mets, is hitting 5 for 32 while David Wright is 1 for 9 against Lowe but is 8 for 25 for his career. Beltran and Wright have not done well against the Braves. In this series, Beltran is 0 for 8 and against the Braves is 5 for 31 . Wright is 0 for 7 for this series and for the year is 6 for 60 with a total of 14 strikeouts.

The Braves will meet the Mets’ starting pitcher R.A. Dickey on Sunday afternoon, who is 11-7 with an earned run average of 2.80 overall and at home this season for nine starts is 7-1 with an earned run average of 1.74. The Braves were able to defeat Dickey this year in New York when he yielded four runs over nearly 7 innings on July 9 – this was his only defeat at home 4-2. On August 3, however, with Lowe as starting pitcher for the Braves, Dickey allowed just two runs over six innings for a 3-2 win.

Against Dickey, leadoff hitter, Omar Infante, for the Braves is 5 for 8 despite his 2 for 15 current low. Nate McLouth is one that the Braves are going to need to lookout for as he hit a homer in addition to driving in two runs in Saturday’s game against the Braves. Alex Gonzalez also had two runs batted in. McLouth is currently 11 for 33 with 10 runs batted in and seven extra-base hits since being recalled on August 31 from AAA Gwinnett – and this is a move that the Mets do not regret making.

Atlanta currently is atop the standings for the Wild Card, but only with a slim lead. The Braves begin a three-game series on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies, the leader in the National League East.
