Friday night begins a three-game series between the Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox on Chicago’s homeland turf after a 10-game trip. The White Sox are debuting Manny Ramirez Friday evening who is hoping that he can get out of a hitless run while getting Chicago out of their rut – a three game losing streak. However, Kansas City seems to be stuck in the same losing streak at this time.
For the Kansas City Royals, the starting pitcher will be left-handed Bruce Chen who is currently 9-7 with an earned run average of 4.89. Against Chicago, Chen is 0-3 with an earned run average of 5.49 in four starts. In two of Chen’s last three starts, he has not made it past the fifth inning of the game. Over 4 2/3 innings, Chen allowed four runs on Saturday against the Tigers in a 6-4 loss.
For the Chicago White Sox, ace left-handed Mark Buehrle will be the starting pitcher and is currently 12-10 with an earned run average of 3.99. Buehrle has success at home against the Royals – 7-1 with an earned run average of 3.13 in the last 13 starts at home. In Sunday’s victory of 7-5 against Boston, the veteran LHP allowed only four runs in seven innings.
Looking at previous games between the White Sox and the Royals, history shows that the game series isn’t going to be effortless for Chicago even if they are on their home turf. Last month, the two teams went head-to-head for a three-game series and two of those series ended with a victories to Kansas City – and all three ended up going into extra innings.
Bodog currently has White Sox listed as the current favorites for Friday’s event with -230 moneyline odds.
