2010 ALCS Game 5 – Texas Rangers @ New York Yankees October 20, 2025 4:19 p.m. ET

Last night, the Texas Rangers handed it to the New York Yankees in the ALCS Game 4 ending with a final score of 10-3 in the Rangers favor. This afternoon, the Rangers will look to complete Game 5 with a victory and have their ticket to the 2010 MLB World Series as they currently lead the series 3-1.

The Rangers will hand their fate over into the hands of starting pitcher C.J. Wilson, who pitched Game 1 of the 2010 ALCS. Wilson is currently 1-0 in his two playoff starts with an ERA of 2.03. In the 2010 ALDS Game 2 against the Tampa Bay Rays, he pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings. Only two hits and two walks were allowed. In the ALCS Game 1 against the Yankees, he allowed just three runs in a little over seven innings. Tonight, he’ll look to pitch the game that he didn’t pitch then.

The Yankees will counter with starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia, who also pitched Game 1 of the 2010 ALCS. Sabathia didn’t start well in Game 1 of the 2010 ALCS against the Rangers - but he blames it on being off eight days prior. If that is the case, his game should be more intact tonight when he will pitch a game that is much-needed for the Yankees right now after normal rest. Sabathia is going to have to look out for homerun hitters from last night – Bengie Morena, Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz.

Wilson is under pressure tonight as the Rangers need just one more win in order to have their ticket to the World Series. If they succeed, this will be the first ever World Series for the Rangers in franchise history. If the Rangers can start off well, maybe they can have the Yankees just leave the game early WITH their fans just like last night. Otherwise, the Yankees are going to have to go big in tonight’s game.
