Throughout the history of the NFL, especially in today’s game, players around the league have been getting into a lot of trouble off the field and causing a lot of problems for their current teams. Despite these primetime athletes constantly getting in serious legal trouble off the field, NFL teams still seem to be giving these troubled players a second, third and fourth chance to resurrect their careers.
With players in the past like Michael Irvin, OJ Simpson and Lawrence Taylor and players in the league today like Tank Johnson, Randy Moss, Santonio Holmes, Ben Roethlisberger and Pacman Jones, the NFL seems like a breeding ground for criminals.
During his time with the Tennessee Titans, Adam “Pacman” Jones was one of the better defensive players in the league, but only played in 30 games and eventually was suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for an extended amount of time. This suspension made some people believe that the controversial cornerback’s career might have been over in the NFL and Jones would have to start looking elsewhere for work.
Fortunately for Pacman, he was given a second chance with the Dallas Cowboys and things looked very promising until he got in trouble once again and only ended up playing nine games for Jerry Jones in Dallas.
Once Pacman was officially done in Dallas, the seemed to be the icing on the cake as no one thought another team would be crazy enough to take another chance of the troubled cornerback until the Cincinnati Bengals agreed to take him on for the upcoming season.
The Bengals are no strangers to troubled NFL players as they seem to embrace those kind of players with a troubled past and seem to be more than willing to give Pacman Jones another chance to play in this league.
