Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys Sun. Dec. 19th 2010 1pm EST
The NFC East division is usually a tight race for the division title from start to finish as three out of the four teams within the division are usually amongst the best in the NFC Conference. This season it seems to be down to just the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants in contention, but the Dallas Cowboys have played some solid football over the past few weeks after firing head coach Wade Phillips and promoting Jason Garrett to call the shots on the sidelines.
With that being said, this weekend’s matchup between the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys is basically meaningless, but with America’s Team playing extremely well as of late, Garrett is trying to make a case for the head coaching job past this season.
As for the Washington Redskins, Donovan McNabb and company have really struggled as of late losing three straight to the Minnesota Vikings (17-13), New York Giants (31-7) and a heartbreaker to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (17-16) last week where a botched extra point attempt at the end of the fourth quarter cost them the game.
Obviously, neither one of these storied NFL franchises have been able to live up to expectations this season, but they would like to finish the season on a strong note by winning the majority of their last three games.
The Dallas Cowboys will without doubt be favored to win this NFC East showdown as they are playing as good as any team in the league right now. With the offense firing on all cylinders and the defense coming off giving Michael Vick and company a run for their money, I really can’t see the Washington Redskins competing with Jon Kitna and company this week.
