With the potential pennant clincher Saturday night on tap at Wrigley Field, the Cubs have sent Kyle Schwarber to Arizona Fall League to join the Mesa Solar Sox. This followed on the heels of reports from MLB Pipeline that Schwarber had been added to the Solar Sox roster and from Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune that Schwarber would be starting for Mesa tonight.

Schwarber, 23, tore two ligaments in his left knee in his second game of the season April 7 against Arizona.

Before committing to anything concerning Schwarber, the Cubs first want to see him take some at-bats.

However, Schwarber's recovery has gone ahead of schedule, and he could become a candidate to be the designated hitter in the World Series, should the Cubs close out the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
