After dissing Donald Trump at this summer's "Republican" national convention - and paying a hefty political price - U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas has made a decision to drop his indifference and make good on his prior pledge to back the GOP presidential nominee. "He is not the guy that I very eloquently spelled out, for over a year, and now there's suddenly a reason to believe him"?"

It's a remarkable turn for Cruz, who declined to endorse or express support for Trump even as late as the Republican convention in July in Cleveland. "And I intend to keep my word"; and, second, Hillary Clinton "is wholly unacceptable".

Trump said in a statement that he was "honored" to have Cruz's endorsement: "I am greatly honored by the endorsement of Senator Cruz".

"We have fought the battle and he was a tough and brilliant opponent", the Republican nominee said in a statement.

For Cruz, there are the U.S. Supreme Court picks, the desire to see Obamacare repealed, the protection of coal and other energies that Clinton has declared war on, illegal immigration and the need to stop amnesty, America's increasingly porous national security, and internet freedom.

Cruz further explained in the interview that he had modeled his convention speech after Ronald Reagan's speech on Gerald Ford in 1976 and Ted Kennedy's speech on Jimmy Carter in 1980, saying that he had meant for the speech to lay out a path for the campaign to earn his support.

Cruz said he was never "Never Trump", but always "Never Hillary".

Last year, he drew three personal fouls in a game against Carolina and was suspended for New York's next game. When safety DeAngelo Hall caught up to Beckham for the tackle, there was a collision and his knee's buckled.

Trump has hired key Cruz allies such as Kellyanne Conway as his campaign manager, and Jason Miller as a spokesman.

Despite attacks against his wife and his father, Cruz apparently thought it was appropriate to assist Trump's solicitation efforts.

"We are left to conclude one of two things", Smith said. Look at the way he's dealt with the Senate, where he goes in there - like, you know, frankly, like a little bit of a maniac.

Cruz, however, continued to say that this year's election is a "binary choice", despite pressure from Beck to reveal any new information that Cruz has on Trump that swayed him to endorse.

The endorsement comes ahead of the first televised debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton on Monday.

Most crucial was an assurance from Indiana Gov. Mike Pence that Trump's potential Supreme Court justice nominations would be restricted to the list of 21 justices circulated by his campaign - rather than just treating that roster as a starting point. "That list is a very, very strong list, and I got to tell you, for me and everyone else who cares about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, that is a big, big deal to make the promise that this is the list that you can know the people from whom" will be selected.
