USA dominates Jamaica to advance to next round in 2011 Gold Cup

Throughout the 2011 Gold Cup, the USA national team has seemed to be confident with no giving it everything they have to advance and win the Gold Cup. That kind of lackluster play has hurt this team as their chances of advancing was put in jeopardy recently when they lost to Panama in the Group Stage.

Fortunately, the Americans were able to bounce back as they beat Guadeloupe, 1-0. Even though they got the win, their play was in serious question yet again as they failed to capitalize on many opportunities. The 2010 World Cup in South Africa is almost a month into its matches and now we are down to just two teams heading into a highly anticipated World Cup Final.

Coming into this World Cup, many people believed that there were just two teams that really stood a chance of competing for a World Cup trophy in an always competitive Brazilian squad and an extremely talented Spanish side.

So despite being favored to go the distance, Brazil was knocked out in the quarterfinals by the Oranje.

Needless to say, the Dutch kept playing at top form as they faced off against Uruguay in the semifinal and came out victorious and will now head into an all-European World Cup Final. Continue Reading…

Germany, Spain Defeat Argentina, Paraguay to Advance to 2010 World Cup Semi Finals

Germany (pictured in a huddle) are well on their way to winning a fourth championship title at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.  Their last title was 20 years ago and so far, they are right on track to make it to the finals and win the title again.

Germany defeated Argentina Saturday morning with a final score of 4-0.  Both teams played well with attacks coming from every which way, but Argentina was unable to even score on Germany.  While Argentina served a good match, although they definitely could have upped their skill and playing ability particularly in terms of defense, it just wasn’t good enough to sustain Germany’s strong defense and offense.
