Parker, San Antonio Spurs Dominate Los Angeles Clippers in Game 2 NBA Playoffs

After a dominant performance in Game 1 against the Los Angeles Clippers, the San Antonio Spurs came in Game 2 with the same intensity and same drive to take a commanding 2-0 series lead after taking down Chris Paul and company, 105-88.

Just as they did against the Utah Jazz in the first round of the NBA playoffs, the Spurs have proven to be the better all-around basketball team right out of the gate against younger and faster Clippers squad. Los Angeles may have gotten the best of the Memphis Grizzlies before facing the Spurs in the second round, but San Antonio appears to be another beast altogether with veteran leadership and playoff experience.

NBA MVP finalist Tony Parker led the way for the Spurs in the scoring department with a game-high 22 points. It wasn’t Parker’s performance offensively that sparked the Spurs in this game though as he did an exceptional job defensively against arguably the best point guard in the league in Paul.

Parker was able to limit Paul’s production to just 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting and five assists. Along with containing Paul offensively, Parker also helped force a game-high eight turnovers by the Clippers’ floor general.

Superstar forward Blake Griffin scored a team-high 20 points for the Clippers, but it was nowhere near enough to hold of the Spurs. After these two dominant performances by San Antonio, the Spurs look like they may cruise into the Western Conference Finals to face either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Oklahoma City Thunder.

There’s no question that this series may take a drastic turn once Game 3 gets underway at the Staples Center, but in the meantime the Spurs are rolling and appear to be the clear favorites to advance to the next round if they can take control in Los Angeles.
