Portland Trail Blazers at Dallas Mavericks Tues. April 19, 2011 9:30 p.m. EST
Coming into this first-round matchup, the consensus around the league was that the Dallas Mavericks would almost certainly struggle against a talented young Portland Trail Blazers squad. Even though that did turn out to be the case in Game 1, the Mavs were able to hold off LaMarcus Aldridge and company and get the win to take the 1-0 lead in the series.Blazers
There is no question that the Dallas Mavericks are one of the best teams in the Western Conference and could be well on their way to a deep run in the playoffs, but I believe they will not be able to advance to the second round without the Portland Trail Blazers continuing to give them trouble. With Aldridge being a serious matchup problem for the Mavs and the fact that this series will almost certainly take a drastic turn when it heads to the Rose Garden in Portland, the Blazers will be looking to get a much needed win in Game 2 as it could be the biggest victory of the series.
If the Portland Trail Blazers can get the best of the Dallas Mavericks in Texas on Tuesday night, this series will take a turn for the worst for Dirk Nowitzki and company as they will have to play two games in Portland (one of the toughest places to play in the NBA) and lose home court advantage.
The Blazers are one team in the league that you don’t want to lose home court advantage against as they play as well as any team in the league on their home floor, especially in the playoffs with their passionate fans making it extremely tough for opposing teams at the Rose Garden.
As of right now, the Dallas Mavericks do have the edge, but just barely with a -3.5 point spread. In my opinion, the Portland Trail Blazers will get the win and turn the table.
Take the Blazers at +3.5
