Dallas Mavericks at Denver Nuggets Thurs. Feb. 10, 2011 10:30 p.m. EST
The Denver Nuggets have been getting a lot of attention over the past couple of months for all the wrong reasons. Even though the Nuggets still a team that looks like they could be playoff bound in the Western Conference as they are currently the seventh seed, they appear to be on the verge of a drastic change as superstar forward Carmelo Anthony has said that he will not sign a contract extension with the team.
There is no question that Melo is one of the best young athletes in the NBA today, but with the Nuggets getting worse and worse with every passing season, the future doesn’t look very bright in the Mile High City despite having a three-year $65 million dollar contract extension on the table.
Even though trade rumors have started to circulate about Melo landing with the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers or the New York Knicks, the All-Star forward is coming off a 50-point game against the Houston Rockets which ties his career-high. Get in on some great NBA betting action tonight.
On Thursday night, Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets will defend their home floor in the Mile High City against arguably one of the best teams in the league in Dirk Nowitzki’s Dallas Mavericks.
The Dallas Mavericks will almost certainly be favored to come out on top in this showdown between these two Western Conference heavyweights as they are the hottest team in the league right now winning nine in a row coming into Denver.
Earlier in the season these two teams split back-to-back games with the Denver Nuggets (102-101) getting the win at home in their first meeting and the Dallas Mavericks (103-92) beating them the second time around in Texas.
Carmelo Anthony might have auditioning for his new team and could have another big game, but in the end I see the Dallas Mavericks winning their 10th straight win.
