One of the most drastic transformations of any player in the NBA this season has been without a doubt big man Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Not only has Love completely changes game as he is now a multiple threat and arguably the best rebounding big man we have seen since the days of Moses Malone, but he is finally giving people hope in Minnesota that the Timberwolves could be a legitimate playoff team in the Western Conference once again.
With multiple 20-20 games and record breaking performances including the longest double-double streak in NBA history (breaking Moses Malone record), there’s no question that Kevin Love is the frontrunner for the NBA’s Most Improved Player of the Year award at season’s end.
The Minnesota Timberwolves may still be a bottom feeder in the Western Conference right now, but with Kevin Love leading the way and some promising young players like Wesley Johnson playing alongside him, this team might have a bright future.
Other Most Improved Player candidates:
LaMarcus Aldridge, Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers have been one of those teams in the NBA that is really struggled over the past few years due to the fact that they can never stay healthy. With All-Star guard Brandon Roy constantly injured and draft picks never panning out for this team (Greg Oden), the Blazers have had to lean on their stud forward LaMarcus Aldridge to lead the way.
Even though the Blazers looked like they wouldn’t be the same team without Brandon Roy, actually seem a bit better with LaMarcus Aldridge being their number one guy.
Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder is arguably the most promising young team in the NBA today, but they wouldn’t have that distinction if it weren’t for one of the best one-two punches in the NBA. With Kevin Durant leading the league in scoring and Russell Westbrook quickly turning into one of the best point guards in this league, this team will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
