The Boston Celtics to show they have no fear of older players after reaching out to another veteran in former Sixth Man of the Year Jason Terry.

Reportedly, the Celtics have offered Terry a three-year deal worth about $15 million. This is yet another interesting and questionable move by the boys from Beantown with the team supposedly trying to convince Ray Allen to stick around for two more years at $6 million annually.

After inking Kevin Garnett to a three-year deal worth $36 million recently, the Celtics are obviously not really to break up the Big 3 and for good reason with Boston reaching the Eastern Conference Finals and taking the eventually NBA champion Miami Heat to a full seven games.

Despite that being the case, the head scratching around the league continues with it being uncertain what the Celtics are trying to accomplish before next season. Fortunately, the Celtics came out as big winners in the NBA Draft with the acquisitions of Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo. Both players may turn into future starters and key pieces to the puzzle surrounding perennial All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo.

In the meantime, Boston seems confident with signing older players in an attempt to compete with the Heat in the Eastern Conference.

As for Terry, the soon-to-be 35-year-old is not going to be wearing green just yet as he is intent on giving the Dallas Mavericks one more shot to re-sign him. With Terry spending the majority of his career in Dallas and winning a title with team two years ago, the Mavs will get the opportunity to keep him in Dallas for the rest of his days in the NBA.

Even with a second chance, the consensus is that the Mavs will not match the offer given by the Celtics and Terry will ultimately sign with Boston.
