The one award in the NBA that gets talked about all season long and is most anticipated by avid NBA fans is the NBA MVP award. Not only is winning the NBA MVP award the closest thing to winning an NBA title for players around the league, but it is something that sticks with players throughout the rest of their NBA career and considered something to use to their advantage.
This season the one player that has gotten more attention than any other when talking about an NBA MVP candidate is the Chicago Bulls superstar point guard Derrick Rose. Not only has Rose been able to lead the Chicago Bulls to the best record in the Eastern conference so far in the NBA regular season, but he might be out to lead this team all the way to the NBA finals and win an NBA title when it’s all said and done.
This would be a monumental improvement from last season and a testament to just how good Derrick Rose really is. There are a few people that would debate other players being in the running for this award, but the consensus around the league and by NBA analysts is that Derrick Rose is this season’s NBA MVP.
Other NBA MVP candidates:
LeBron James, Miami Heat
After having won two straight NBA MVP awards, LeBron James will probably be in the discussion for this award every year until the end of his career. This season LeBron was thought to take considerable dip in numbers, but that hasn’t been the case as he is an MVP worthy candidate once again.
Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic
Even though he will almost certainly get more consideration for the Defense of Player of the Year award, Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic has made a vast improvement this season as a legitimate candidate for NBA MVP.
