Over the past week or so, the New York Knicks have seen Carmelo Anthony go down with a groin injury (1 to 2 weeks) and Amare Stoudemire suffer the sudden death of his brother (returns Monday). This couldn’t have happen at a worse time for the Knicks as New York has struggled all season long and as a result their head coach Mike D’Antoni’s job has been on the line.
Even though most of the Knicks want D’Antoni to stay in the Big Apple, this storied NBA franchise has no problems changing coaches, especially with a big-name like Phil Jackson potentially interested in taking over. Needless to say, the Knicks are in trouble and might be in danger of missing the playoffs entirely this season if they can’t turn it around.
Fortunately, the New York Knicks have gotten some news in an unlikely place in the form of point guard Jeremy Lin. With Lin bouncing around the league this season after being cut by both the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets before landing in the Big Apple, no one thought this kid out of Harvard had what it took to hack it in the NBA.
Now that doesn’t seem to be the case with Jeremy Lin as the Asian-American has been the only bright spot on the New York Knicks over the last three games with three impressive performances in a row. Not only does Lin appear to be the real deal, but the Rockets have expressed regret for letting him go. With Houston having Kyle Lowry and Gordan Dragic in the backcourt, the Rockets didn’t need an unproven point guard like Jeremy Lin, but now they are shaking their heads for letting an impressive talent slip through their fingers.
