Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks Weds. Feb. 16, 2011 7:30 p.m. EST
The New York Knicks are arguably one of the most promising young teams in the league in the biggest basketball city in this country with perhaps the best chance at landing superstar forward Carmelo Anthony, but they have played a bit sloppy as of late.
Not only have the New York Knicks won just five games out of the last ten, but they trade rumors involving superstar Carmelo Anthony may finally be starting to take its toll. Amare Stoudemire has no worries as the All-Star isn’t going anywhere, but players like Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and most recently Raymond Felton have reasons for concern as they could be shipped out of the Big Apple any day now.
With all the trade rumors flying around the Big Apple, the Knicks may have found it hard to concentrate on upcoming games. This Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks could be one of those games as it will be the last game before the All-Star break and potentially the last game for a few of these players in a Knicks uniform.
Even though a trade is almost certainly on the horizon for the New York Knicks that would bring Carmelo Anthony to the Big Apple, this team must concentrate on the Hawks and how they are going to contend with arguably one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
Coming into this game, the Hawks will most likely be favored to win and that they should as they are the better all around basketball right now. The Knicks may put up a fight considering that it is on their home floor at Madison Square Garden, but ultimately with Stoudemire being banged up right now I don’t believe they will be able to contend with All-Star Al Horford and Josh Smith in the paint.
