The 2011 NBA All-Star game is about three weeks away and will most likely be another epic event as it will be played in Los Angeles, California on the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers home floor of the Staples Center.
Ironically enough, Lakers superstar guard Kobe Bryant was the leading vote-getter for this year’s All-Star game with 2.4 million votes. Along with Kobe leading the way for the Western Conference All-Stars, here is the rest of the West roster followed by the Eastern Conference All-Star starters:
Western Conference All-Star starters
Guards: Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers; Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets
Forwards: Carmelo Anthony, Denver Nuggets; Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder
Center: Yao Ming, Houston Rockets (injured)*
Head Coach: Greg Popovich, San Antonio Spurs
*replacement to be picked by NBA Commissioner David Stern
Eastern Conference All-Star starters
Guards: Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat; Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls
Forwards: LeBron James, Miami Heat; Amare Stoudemire, New York Knicks
Center: Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic
Head Coach: TBA
Kobe Bryant lead all players in voting with 2.4 million votes, but Dwight Howard wasn’t too far behind as he finished in second with 2.1 million votes. As for the West and East reserves, they will be announced next Thursday with the two head coaches deciding who they would like to come off the bench.
Along with Kobe Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers might have up to three more players representing their team on their home floor on Feb. 20 as Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum will be getting a lot of consideration for the Western Conference reserves.
With Spurs head coach Greg Popovich calling the shots, he will almost certainly be bringing Manu Ginobili along with him to LA, but might want to some Lakers in the mix too. We will update you when the odds on this are posted from online sportsbooks.
