Jacoby Ellsbury Heads to Boston for MRI

Last night, during his appearance against the Texas Rangers, Jacoby Ellsbury is headed to Boston this Saturday morning to have yet again another MRI.  He is said to be having his ribs re-examined in the fact that he possibly reinjured himself last night during a collision that took place at first base in Arlington.

Ellsbury collided with pitcher Tommy Hunter, but that wasn’t the worst of it.  It was what happened after the collision that is taking Ellsbury MLB season one step closer to ending or at least plummeting drastically.  After colliding with Hunter, Ellsbury fell to the ground and initially landed on his back’s left side.

He had injured himself in the exact same place earlier this year in April when he had a collision with his Boston Red Sox teammate Adrian Beltre.  Ellsbury was sent back to Boston and is set to have an MRI examination on his ribs Saturday morning to determine the full extent of the damage from the collision.  The outfielder missed most of this season already and now it looks like he could possibly miss the rest of this season.

Ellsbury just joined the Red Sox on August 4 to continue his season after he had learned that he had reached a point to where it was unlikely that he’d injured his ribs again.  He struggled at first but has been picking up his game recently; however, it looks like his improved performance is going to be put on hold for a little while longer.

Ellsbury has had it rough this year and this is yet another thing that he can add to his plummeting 2010 MLB season.  This is just yet another setback for Ellsbury, but he and the team are all keeping positive thoughts and hoping for the absolute best.
