Going into Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night in Dallas, Texas, there might be a little animosity between the two leading scorers of the Dallas Mavericks. At the end of Game 3, superstar forward Dirk Nowitzki put the team on his back and scored the last 12 points for the Mavs, but his teammate Jason Terry missed his last four shots and was given the bulk of the blame for Dallas not being able to pull off the second straight comeback.
With time expiring in the fourth quarter of that game, Dirk Nowitzki had an opportunity to tie the game up and send it into overtime. Unfortunately, Nowitzki missed and the Miami Heat won Game 3 and now have a 2-1 series lead heading into Game 4.
After the Game 3 loss, Dirk Nowitzki did something completely uncharacteristic and called out his fellow teammate Jason Terry for not being clutch when the team needed him most. This is obviously a statement that can get under a teammate’s skin and that might have happen to Terry after he heard this statement for the team’s undisputed leader.
Whether or not this turn out to be a positive or a negative in Game 4 remains to be seen, but the Dallas Mavericks are definitely in a must win situation here as they do not want to lose one more game on their home floor at American Airlines Center.
If the Mavs are able to get the best of the Heat in Game 4, the series will be tied up at one game apiece and the plot will continue to thicken as the NBA Finals moves forward. This will be a key victory for the Dallas Mavericks as they have to play at least one more game in South Beach and will need to gain some momentum before doing so.
